The LibrarianThe Markets

Globalization of Communications Delivery. As we traverse the Information Age, boundaries are beginning to fall away. Borders that just a few years ago seemed insurmountable will be things of history. With the spread of information and the ability to straddle once mountainous obstacles, mankind will join in commerce, exploration and edification of each other. With that happening, as trade and global understanding come to humanity as a whole, we will have entered the new age. Any system that permits every person to communicate with every other person globally will aid in the development of commerce.

Infrastructure Development in Emerging Markets. The key to the prosperity of the emerging and rapidly developing nations is the development of infrastructure. Communications infrastructure in large and mainly rural communities brings its own set of problems. The cost of such infrastructure development is often prohibitive. Even when this is not the case, the ability of the people to deal with suddenly being thrust into a new technical developmental stage often brings confusion and mistrust. How communities like India and China will handle jumping from underdevelopment to infrastructure and architecture in place to support a booming economy of industrialization is not clear. What is clear is that this is an inevitability that can be handled well and made relatively painless. The Company sees its role in this system of integration as vital to the smooth transition into an information-based global community.

The Applications

Education. The educational applications of the Librarian are virtually limitless. With the Librarian, education becomes interactive. The SatCom system will allow for unlimited numbers of Intranets within a limited number of computer data bases called libraries. One of these libraries will be dedicated to an educational network. This network will allow SatCom to bring the classroom to any person in the world. It will make quality education available to every man, woman and child on the planet, by giving them access to the world’s vast number of educators and unlimited amounts of information. No longer will students be limited in their access of information. The versatility of the Librarian is unparalleled. It will contain the student’s entire school history, their entire year’s curriculum and reference material, and class assignments.

The Librarian contains voice recognition and write recognition software. It has a universal translator so education and interaction of students can cross all language barriers. Once the students have completed their homework assignments they can e-mail them or download them to their teacher’s Librarian for instant credit and grading. The teacher no longer will spend untold hours at home grading papers. Parents will be able to track the student’s daily progress. They will know on an ongoing basis if the students are completing assignments on time and, on a daily basis, be able to access their grade point average. This allows parents a far greater participation in their children’s education. Another major feature of the Librarian is its ability to recognize and correct learning deficiencies. Students have sometimes gone years and even a lifetime with a learning dysfunction such as dyslexia without it being discovered, let alone corrected. The Librarian is programmed to recognize all these difficulties and alert the student, teacher and parent that they exist. The Librarian will design a customized learning program for each student that will allow the student to stay on track and continue the educational experience in a positive and supportive environment.

Another exciting feature is that through the Librarian’s "Virtual Translator" the deaf will be able to sign into the Librarian’s video camera and the translator will convert the sign language into text or into words that correspond. In reverse, the person wishing to speak to the deaf will be able to write/type or speak into the Librarian and it will convert it to sign language via the Virtual Translator. For the first time in history the deaf will be able to communicate with everyone easily and effortlessly. It allows them equal access and equal opportunities. The Virtual Translator also gives access to the blind through voice recognition programs and with its built-in GPS (Global Positioning System) can serve as an "electronic seeing eye dog" to direct the blind anywhere and everywhere. It lets them know through voice recognition programs where they are and in what direction they need to go. They will also have built-in electronic signals to make them aware of traffic, street signs and traffic control signals. Magnetic strips could be incorporated into pedestrian crossings, allowing the Librarian to sense the magnetic and electronic signatures, which would allow the blind to cross streets safely. All public transportation would be tied into an electronic pathway so they could hail a cab simply by voice requesting one. The cab would lock on the GPS and be directed to the person who signaled them. The Librarian becomes a Virtual Companion and assistant for the hearing and sight impaired, as well as others with various disabilities which have made their lives more difficult than need be.

librarian0001.jpg (47390 bytes)Medical. The company foresees a medical Intranet that would be enormously beneficial. It would allow medical personnel to network within their own closed system; doctor to doctor, doctor to nurse, doctor to hospital. This system allows doctors to manage their time more efficiently. A nurse on house calls would have all the patient’s medical files and history already preloaded onto their Librarian; including a complete medical reference library. They could contact the patient’s doctor and allow them to teleconference from their home, or even bedside. If a patient is prescribed a medication, the instant the medication is prescribed it will automatically check to see if there are any drug conflicts or known allergic reactions to the patient. If there is, the doctor, nurse, and patient will be notified by the Librarian immediately. This feature alone could save thousands of lives a year. Another powerful application of the Librarian is not only its time management abilities, but also its office and billing management capabilities. As a patient is treated and prescribed, the Librarian will post the billings to the proper account and fill out the necessary forms and paperwork required by the various agencies. This will keep the entire medical system current with billings and collections.

When a patient is prescribed a medicine, the Librarian will give the patient a complete readout of the medication prescribed to allow them to make an informed decision on whether or not they want to take this medication. In the event of emergencies, the Librarian has a built-in 911 channel for medical emergencies. A patient could get immediate help remotely and be monitored on an ongoing basis until emergency response personnel arrive. Or, if a person was trapped in a car, plane, boat, etc. and lost consciousness, the 911 signal activation would serve as a locator beacon and help would be sent to their location. Another feature of the medical software package is the lab on a chip. With this technology the Librarian becomes a portable and powerful diagnostic lab. It will perform blood tests (without needles) with its bio mechanical thumb print reader. It will also perform hair and skin analysis. It will become a invaluable tool for health awareness and maintenance.

Emergency. Every Librarian will come with a emergency channel pre-installed. This will allow for local, state and national emergency alerts to be broadcast via satellite instantly. This feature alone could save thousands of lives a year on a global basis. People now will have life saving information as soon as it is available. Natural disasters like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc. can be tracked and information will be broadcast, keeping people advised as to current conditions. If an emergency situation arises, the affected areas will be alerted through the Librarian’s emergency frequency. The Librarian could not only track the footprint of the emergency, it will advise people of the safest and fastest routes out of the danger area. Up until now, the lack of information has cost untold loss of life needlessly. If there is a situation where a fire crew is caught or trapped behind the fire lines, the Librarian would be able to plot a course that would take them away from danger and coordinate efforts of resources to clear a safe passageway out.

Highway Emergencies. The Librarian could constantly monitor road conditions. It would alert you of traffic conditions and would sound a beep and red flashing light in the event of a traffic accident ahead. The Librarian could then tie into an emergency traffic broadcast channel to advise you of the accident, alternative routes that could be taken, etc. The highway signs would be digital and they, too, would alert the entire highway network of the danger and the emergency.

Environmental Testing Abilities. The Librarian will have a number of safety features built in. A fire and smoke detector will alert someone sleeping or with diminished senses, of an emergency and plot an escape route. It also would have a carbon monoxide sensor and a sensor of other toxic gases and fumes. In addition, it would have diagnostic sensors for testing your air, water and food for safety and purity. This is invaluable for travelers in foreign environments. This, along with the medical diagnostic abilities for testing different diseases and pathogens, could help keep diseases in check. For people and businesses engaged in farming, agriculture, aqua-culture, ranching, etc., this becomes a powerful tool in managing their systems. Farmers can check the fertilizer content in the soil and water. They can check the quality and content of their crops, check the world market for the best prices, then offer their crops to the highest bidder, keep all the profit and not turn it over to the middlemen.

Ranchers. The Librarian becomes an invaluable tool in the management of their herds. Ranchers will be able to keep track of each individual animal with a homing and diagnostic chip. A rancher could remotely locate the animal and get a readout on its health and diet needs. You would be able to obtain information on the best time to harvest your stock and coordinate the best markets and prices for the stock that you are harvesting. If an animal becomes sick, you will know immediately and be able to isolate that animal to protect the remaining animals. The implanted chip would alert the user that an animal has gone outside your established boundaries. The Librarian will provide all of this, and a powerful office management tool for keeping accurate records on all facets of a business.

FAA Maintenance Information. For instance, a mechanic logs on to the Librarian using either the thumbprint or voice print recognition scan system built into the platform. This will log who specifically worked on the plane, when and what was done, if any parts were changed out and why. This information is transmitted via satellite to the central computer. Now, if 100 mechanics around the world have changed the same part in the last week or month, a red flag will automatically go up and all parties, the FAA, airlines, airplane manufacturers and maintenance facilities will be alerted that there is a problem requiring investigation. The planes could be grounded until the part is re-manufactured to a higher standard and the part replaced on all planes. The end result would be lives saved by prevention. The Librarian not only would be used to obtain and transfer information of all kinds and description, but it would also have the ability to be used as a diagnostic tool. The Librarian, through its SCSI ports, will allow an airplane mechanic to plug into the system's computer and diagnose the system. The Librarian would give you a three-dimensional image readout of the system and its current condition. The Librarian would then log the systems check, who performed the systems check and the results of that check. If a part were needed, for instance, the Librarian would show a 3-D image of the part, how to remove it and how to install it including a 3-D image of bolts and screw pathways, seals, torque requirements, etc. By touching the part you need on the Librarian's screen, it would identify the part, the part number, the necessary bolts, screws and seals that are needed, all by parts and part numbers. The system would then find the nearest available part and order it delivered in the shortest time possible. If it were a part in your inventory, it would automatically re-order the part back into stock.

The Librarian would also contain all the reference manuals for the planes and systems the mechanic was working on. It would contain a complete list of all customers, service records, inventory, safety alerts and updates. It would automatically bill charges to the proper accounts and then track those changes. The Librarian would replace the airplane black box. With the Librarian, there would be no need for the black box because of the Librarian's SCSI ports, three chip broadcast quality video camera and its send/receive capabilities via satellite. The Librarian then becomes the eyes and ears of the control tower. From the moment the plane is put into service, the system would be activated. It would audio/visually monitor the entire interior and exterior of the plane and all its systems. The tower would be getting live real time feeds of the status of the entire plane. If an accident occurred and an emergency was declared, the ground would know exactly what was going on, who was on board and if the plane was taken over by terrorists; what their positions were, how many of them there are and what kind of weapons they have. If there was a mechanical failure, the onboard computers would be feeding information back to the control tower live. No longer would the FAA and the public have to wonder about what happened and what went wrong. If a plane went down, because of the Librarian's built in GPS, it would send back the exact location of the plane, the nearest emergency response teams and then alert them automatically. It will also provide a list of necessary equipment and services required to handle the emergency.

librarian0002.jpg (40907 bytes)Travel & Business. Everyone is aware of the recent developments of global navigation and tracking systems being used by automobile manufacturers. The problem we see with a fixed on board or in dash navigator unit is, that it is only as mobile as the unit containing it is. The Librarian, on the other hand, can be taken any place a person can go. It will not only display your present location but will plot the shortest, safest route to whatever destination you desire. Not only will it assist you in finding your way around anywhere in the world, it can display all the different ways available to get there; bus routes, cabs, planes, train routes and every other conceivable method of travel. It will make their schedules, costs, routes and regulations available to you at the touch of a screen. For travel, it will highlight all points of interest, allowing you to locate and access information on travel, lodging, restaurants, entertainment, etc. You can then view, in a restaurant for instance, the menu, the interior of the restaurant, the cost of items on the menu, even have your Librarian call and make reservations. The same would apply for hotels and motels; you could see the hotel/motel facilities, view the available rooms, make reservations and pay for it all using the Librarian. This becomes an invaluable travel companion. No longer will one have to drive around looking for their requirements. They can get all the information and make all the arrangements remotely in the safety and security of their home, office or wherever they feel comfortable. For businesspersons, the added security features such as the GPS system, will allow their office or security teams to track and monitor them at all times. Worldwide abductions are on an increase and are of concern to any businessperson that is aware of the potential danger. The Librarian becomes an invaluable part in personal and corporate safety. An additional feature of the Librarian is an emergency activation much like the radio frequencies devices used to lock and unlock cars remotely. If you are suspended from the Librarian for any reason and you find yourself in an emergency, you simply activate the Librarian’s emergency channel and it will notify authorities of your location and of your situation.

The Universal Translator. The company feels this will be the single most used feature on a global scale. With the universal translator, a Chinese person can speak to an American in their native language. As the Chinese is spoken, it is translated into English by the Librarian and vice versa. It will allow people around the world to converse freely. It will become easier to travel in foreign countries because you will always be able to communicate. It becomes easier for executives to conduct business because they can now communicate all the things that are necessary for business decisions to be made. It opens an endless number of possibilities for all people in the world. It is only when people understand each other clearly and precisely that their problems and differences can be worked out mutually.

Intranet for World Financial Markets. The world is getting smaller, and the need for a safe, reliable platform for conducting financial transactions over a global system is obvious. With the Librarian, it will now be possible to conduct all types of financial and business transactions with complete confidence and security with the Librarian’s built in Bio-Mechanical thumbprint recognition, retina scanner, voice pattern recognition and DNA identification abilities along with a powerful encryption chip. The Librarian offers the world a safe and secure platform and system by which to conduct its financial affairs. SatCom estimates that credit card fraud and financial transaction theft will become outdated. The Librarian and its related technologies will provide the world’s financial markets with the safest and most reliable system ever conceived. With access, mobility and reliability, it offers unparalleled versatility and convenience to its users.

Entertainment Capabilities. In addition to being able to receive all television and radio broadcasts from anywhere in the world, the Librarian will be able to access its digital archives for any and all music, television, movies and information of all types and descriptions. Now, instead of going to your favorite movie rental store and renting a movie, you will be able to call up the movie menu on the Librarian and download the movie at a fraction of the cost. The Librarian offers you your first choice every time and you don’t have to go anywhere; you can download it via satellite. If it has been broadcast, then it is in a digital archive and can be viewed anytime at your convenience. Music videos can be archived the same way; old movies and television series can be delivered to you in sequence, from episode #1 to the final episode, all at your request. You can view all of this and more on your Librarian, or activate the infrared signal to your large TV screen to monitor and watch wherever you like. Thus, your Librarian becomes the receiver and can connect to your TV for more enjoyable viewing. The Librarian will have the ability to serve as a music mixer and editor through software configuration and to also have the ability to convert music to sheet music and sheet music to audible music. It will be able to act as a complete digital recording studio weighing less than two pounds. A full orchestra and light show could accompany a lone musician through this amazing device and its software configurations. With its three-chip broadcast quality video camera, it can also become a powerful portable broadcast station broadcasting live, real time events. It could serve as one-person news broadcast station with unparalleled mobility and versatility.

Virtual City Projects. SatCom is developing a series of virtual cities. These cities are 3D animation replications of the real city they represent. The virtual city allows a person to interact with the community in which they reside or with the community from which they came, as in the transient nature of the American experience. The virtual city will permit the interaction of the user with the vendors of the city, with the municipality in the city, and with each other in the city. They can tour the streets of their city, they can visit each other electronically, or they can access trade people in the city. They can visit restaurants and other places of business without the need to leave their homes, find exactly what it is they are looking for, and be satisfied with the level of service, the kind of product, or the general ambiance of the establishment. They would be able to get police reports for the area. They could, if they so desired, order their products from the establishment and have them delivered. The experience of the Virtual City will allow communities to come together by allowing the safe exploration of the City as a whole, without the inherent risks involved in physical exploration. As a business directory and as a method of finding information and locations, the virtual city will permit you to take a visually, audibly stimulated flight around the entire city. In the case of San Diego, America’s fifth largest city and second largest tourist destination, this could be done first from the safety and comfort of the hotel room. Vendors will have the opportunity to get their message and their product range to their clients and develop a larger client base for a low monthly fee no more than a simple Yellow Page ad price of today. In San Diego, the cost of a Yellow Page phone book type listing starts at $200 per month. For that, the vendor will get to list his business name and telephone in amongst all others in the city. However, the reality is that the perception of the consumer is, that the bigger the ad, the better the company.

Virtual City will include an interactive 3D animated replica of the business, inside and out. It will have interactive pages with product demonstrations and prices. There will be a "I need to talk to someone" key, that when pressed by the consumer, actually activates the videophone portion of the system and permits live interaction between the vendor and the consumer. This way the vendor is not wasting his time on the phone all day and the consumer is able to browse without the hassle of pushy sales people.

The consumer can purchase the product from the vendor over the system or can go down to the store and conduct the remaining portion of the transaction in person. The consumer is able to save time and energy in locating products and services that they need. They are able to feel comfortable with the people they do business with. The advantages to the vendor are great. They develop a larger pool from which to draw clients; they are able to deal with more people through the Virtual system than they would ever be able to accommodate in their physical establishment. They increase the catchment area for their customer base and it is the cheapest form of advertising available anywhere.

lib on moon rock2.jpg (38550 bytes)Military Application. The military applications of this product are apparent to all. It is NOT the policy of the Company to develop military hardware or to become known as a Defense contractor. The Company believes in peace and in the development of social advancements of humanity as a whole, not the wholesale slaughter through warfare. The Company also recognizes a responsibility to the Defense of our nation and the protection of our men and women at arms. The Company will include a version of the PCD called the MilSpec version that will permit voice, video, and data streams to be relayed from the field back to either the field HQ or back to the USA. It would be a secure form of communication and will permit the troops in the field to get updated orders beamed directly to them. This device weighs less than four pounds, is bullet proof, water proof, and as best as is humanly possible, soldier proof.

Governmental Application. One of the major problems with the Internet today is that there are, unfortunately, too many people and too much information on the Net at this time. As the population density of Net users grows, the Net itself will degenerate into a hopeless mass of information, misinformation and confusion. For some, it has already reached this point. The some we are talking about here is, of course, the government; local, national or federal. The needs of the government and the wishes of the Net rebels are different. The some we are talking about here is, of course, the government; local, national or federal. The needs of the government and the wishes of the Net rebels are different. There are two possible solutions to the problem.

  1. Regulate the Net; enforce it with code or law, and punish those who do not agree with the status quo. This will risk rebellion.

  2. Create a new net just for government. Call it an Intranet and control access to your net and the kind of information passed on your net. Option 2 is what the Company is proposing to offer to the government and anyone else who has classified or sensitive information that needs to be circulated to limited numbers of people in a very short time frame, in a very secure mode.

Information & Entertainment Delivery Systems. Entertainment and information delivery has been successfully joined by popular television in the United States today. The "Edutainment" industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. News programming is no longer news. It is an orchestrated, sensationalized video tabloid that attracts millions of mindless viewers around an idiot box for the purpose of advertising propaganda. Prime time television attracts some 200 million viewers in the USA and accounts for 68% of advertising targets and success rates. In the US, sports events account for the remaining. This is the reason that American football is played with time outs and around selected play schedules, so that advertisers have time to unload their products. The rest of television is just very low-grade filler around the sports and prime time slots. If the TV companies could, they would suspend programming outside of these times, as the remaining TV programming loses them money. America started to develop a level of sophistication in its viewing habits and required a higher standard. The cable companies with the non-advertising and limited advertising enterprises took off to an unusual extent and today 50% of American homes have cable. As the technology develops, more of the population will embrace the next phase of the Edutainment industry; PCDs, film, and music on demand, customizable personal radio or TV broadcasts. Large video and music data banks will mean that the client can select the songs and the programming for the day from vast libraries of films and TV shows. They will be able to order their favorite soap opera to start when they get home, not when the network runs it. They will pay premium rates for this service. They select a show, they are billed for that show and then see the show. The show makers and the studios benefit because they have developed a direct line to revenue generation. This means that smaller companies can make movies and shows, and get them aired and get paid for their work.Entertainment and information delivery has been successfully joined by popular television in the United States today. The Librarian and the Virtual World. The Company will be creating virtual cities that mirror existing cities. With the navigator controls on the Librarian, you will be able to navigate throughout these virtual cities by land, air, or water, depending on the physical characteristics of the city itself. In addition, in the communication mode, you will be able to create virtual secretaries to answer your telephone personally when you elect not to take calls. You can also create friends with personality and interaction between them and the Librarian user. For business applications, you will be able to create virtual doctors, therapists, teachers, pets, families, friends, instructors, business associates, etc. Any and all of your personnel can be created and applied into the Librarian Platform. The Librarian is the Ultimate How To Book. Using virtual or real instructors, teachers or spokespersons, you can explain and demonstrate how-to Cook; a virtual cookbook with a virtual chef that explains the right amount of ingredients and then shows you how to combined them in the right order. It then shows you how to prepare them and then how to serve them; a hold your hands through the whole process approach. How-to auto repair; a virtual mechanic could show you how to diagnose the problem, where to go and get the part, the cost of the part and then how to install the part properly. This same technique could be applied across the board on How-To books and manuals; thus, making the instruction and learning process much more effective. The Librarian and the Environment. The Librarian will move us faster towards a "Paperless Society". When information is moved from a digital archive and delivered digitally to the Librarian, it is stored on a disk or hard drive. The paper or "Hard Copies" are left out of the loop. This can save millions of trees a year. When books become "electronic and digital", again, hundreds of millions of trees will be spared as no paper is involved. The Librarian becomes not only user friendly, but environmentally friendly as well, conserving natural resources.
